Accepted at AMDA!

"Dear Olle,
I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted for admission to AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Based on the result of your audition, we are offering you acceptance in the Studio Certificate Program. We offer you a unique opportunity to participate in a vital and comprehensive curriculum in one of the world's most important and exciting cities."

"You've got a letter from AMDA" Mum says as she comes through the door with the post.
Rather calm I let it rest on the table before I methodically rip it open. Out of the envelope falls a folder. Inside the folder there are several documents. On the first one I read:

"Dear Olle,
I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted for admission to AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Based on the result of your audition, we are offering you acceptance in the Studio Certificate Program. We offer you a unique opportunity to participate in a vital and comprehensive curriculum in one of the world's most important and exciting cities."

I felt like it was the start of something new, back when I did my audition for AMDA. Not just that the audition went well, my whole body just told me that 2013 will be the year when things will start happening. From applying to only one school in Stockholm last year, I was about to audition for eight schools in New York and London. And everything has started off in the best way possible; I've been accepted at the very first one.

So what does this mean? It means that I'm guaranteed a place at AMDA in New York for the coming fall, where I will attend a two-year acting course. After that I can choose if I want to take two additional years - in Los Angeles. Except my acceptance I've also been granted a scholarship of a couple of thousand dollars that renews itself each year. I'm so happy, and proud!

"When are you leaving?" some might ask.
Well, it's not that easy. Let's not forget that I still have seven auditions left for other schools, both in New York and London. In a dream scenario I would be able to choose from a bunch of them in the end, depending on what I want with my education. I also need to apply for Visa, scholarships, loans and grants to be able to pay the horrific fee at AMDA. I am obviously determined that I will find a way to sort all of this out - I would never allow myself to fall out on a chance like this. If I don't get in anywhere else I know where I can go. It is with excitement I'm thinking about next fall knowing that I will pursue my career, for real.

In the slopes

Sometimes I like to be a typical Swede and go and be Swedish in a slope. My friend Linn has barely stood on a pair of skies, which is unbelievable to me - as a Swede, isn't knowing how to ski a mandatory thing, like knowing how to ride a bike? Perhaps not. Maybe I've just been fortunate enough to have lived not too far away from the nearest ski resort.
Today we took a trip to one of those, a mere two 1½ hour from Karlstad - Hovfjället. Terror and Snara made me company and we had an awesome day. I have to go again before the season's over.
